Recap of Simple Plan Foundation benefit event

Saying that this year’s Simple Plan Foundation benefit event was a success would be an understatement. Not only has the event been sold-out for weeks now, the band also announced the highest amount of donations – over $300 000, which will be going to various charitable organizations dealing with youth, including for example Montreal’s Children Hospital ($15 000). In total since the beginning, Simple Plan Foundation has raised over 1.5 million dollars for a good cause.

During the announcement of this year’s donations at a press conference that preceeded the event, Jay Bouvier, Pierre’s brother, who’s struggle with cancer led Pierre to write the song “Save You”, appeared on the stage with the band and gave a testimony on the Foundation’s contribution to the Maisoneuve-Rosemont hospital.

Check out the following video from CTV Montreal that features a report about this event and also Pierre, his brother Jay and his parents talking about the Simple Plan Foundation:

After the attendees of the benefit event were let in, they had the opportunity to take part in a silent auction (including such items as signed Mark Hoppus bass or shoes signed bz members of All Time Low), take a picture with the band and later on also attend a concert of Marie-Mai and then finally Simple Plan. Simple Plan’s performance included songs such as Jet Lag (feat. Marie-Mai), Perfect, Lucky One, The Rest Of Us and also introduced a brand new song called “Boom”, which they performed acoustically [click here to watch a video of this song].
