Simple Plan working on Australian tourdates for 2018

While Simple Plan have visited quite a number of places over the course of 2017 (USA, Canada, Japan and many European countries with a tour in Mexico still coming up), there is still a lot of fans, who did not get to see them this year. Some fans have of course been more vocal than others regarding the absence of SP shows in their countries in 2017 – most notably the fans in South America and Australia. And while we don’t have any exact dates to give you right now, we can bring some good news at least to the Oz part of the world: Simple Plan will be coming back!

In fact, according to SP’s official Instagram account’s recent answer to a fans’ comment, Simple Plan are ‘working on [an Australian announcement] and are very excited for it!’. This news will surely make the Australian fans very excited about the next year!

Why 2018?

And why next year? If we look into Simple Plan’s schedule for this year more realistically – we can already tell that there is not much space left for any big tours this year – and definitely not for those on the other side of the world. Simple Plan will be heading for the Warped Rewind At Sea cruise any day now, after which they have a tour in Mexico at the beginning of November planned. End of November and the beginning of December is already reserved for the band’s return to the U.S., so that leaves us with the end of December, where we’re sure the band will most likely take some time off to be at home with their families during the Christmas holidays and the New Year.

But if the band is already working on the tourdates, the Australian tour could realistically be held in the first half of 2018.

No Pads tour or TOFTT tour?

Of course, that leaves us with the question whether we can expect any more No Pads shows coming up at all. Since the 15th anniversary of the record was in 2017, would it make sense to prolong the tour till 2018? It may and it may not. We’re sure it could be done, but it will all depend on the band itself. Let’s not forget that they still have all the works on their 6th album scheduled for next year!

On the other hand, Australia already got its fair share of TOFTT shows in 2016, so all the more reason why to head over there with the No Pads tour. Given the extreme success of this anniversary tour, there is definitely hope.

And as far as the fans in South America goes, Simple Plan have not replied to any other fans’ comments demanding their shows in any other countries, however there have been multiple reports in the past few months from promoters in Brazil for example that there may be some tour preparations in making. Let’s wait and see!
