Simple Plan’s debut single ‘I’m Just A Kid’ certified Platinum in the U.S.

Given the recent resurgence of Simple Plan’s song ‘I’m Just A Kid’ due to an unprecedented viral success thanks to the “I’m Just A Kid” challenge on TikTok, the band’s debut single has now been certified platinum in the United States. The certification has been awarded to the song on May 26th 2020, 18 years after its original release.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awards singles the Platinum certification when they hit 1 million units sold. Each permanent digital download counts as 1 unit and 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams count as 1 unit. It is undeniable that the recent new-founded success of the song on social media spiked the streams of the song on various platforms, including YouTube or Spotify.

With its new Platinum status, I’m Just A Kid is the highest certified single by Simple Plan in the United States.

Simple Plan recently joined TikTok on their own and continue spreading the “I’m Just A Kid challenge” together even despite social distancing. Check out their fantastic recent green screen effort:
