NEW INTERVIEW: Simple Plan may release new song this week!

Last Friday, June 26th, Pierre Bouvier did an interview with the Indonesian server CreativeDisk.com. In this interview, Pierre talked about the upcoming Simple Plan album, which will apparently feature some interesting collaborations. In the middle of the interview Pierre also mentioned that after releasing the first song Saturday, the band plans to release the second song maybe even this week!

In the remaining parts of the interview, which haven’t been transcribed, Pierre also revealed that he got the idea for the song “Saturday” off the internet after seeing people use the hashtag #SaturdayNight to describe what they were doing. Regarding the topics of the new album, Pierre mentioned there would be very different themes about love, hatred, party and others. Pierre also mentioned that one of his favorite bands at the moment is Twenty One Pilots.

Check out the English translation of the revealed transcript of a part of the interview below:

CD: Hello, Pierre! I’m Jeni from CreativeDisc.com
Pierre: Hi, Jeni!

CD: How are you today?
Pierre: Today is very remarkable for me. How are you?

CD: I’m doing great! I am happy to talk to you. Pierre, do you miss the Indonesian cuisine?
Pierre: Umm, I’ve tried some Indonesian cuisine. It’s tasty!

Pierre: Yes! I like it. I will definitely ask for it again if we go to Indonesia later.

CD: What is progress on the new album Simple Plan at this time?
Pierre: We are currently in the process of mixing. To be honest, I think this is the best album we’ve ever made. We’ve been working hard on it for almost 2 years, so I am proud because cause this will be a very cool album. It’s possible that next week [*interview was done last week*] we will release a new song again.

CD: Is there a new concept on this 5th album?
Pierre: Of course! Every song on it is a new concept. About 11-12 songs, each with a new concept.

CD: Do you plan to collaborate with other musicians?
Pierre: Yes, it looks like we will collaborate with several musicians. It has not been revealed yet, but it will be surprise collaborations and it’s going to cool.

Pierre: I’d love to, but I can’t. It has not been officially confirmed yet and it’s a very confidential information. But it will be a big surprise of the album.

Pierre: Because our album will be released in September 2015, I think we will come to Indonesia at the beginning of next year.

CD: Okay, Pierre. Thank you for taking the time, I was very happy to talk to you. We would very much look forward to a Simple Plan concert in Indonesia.
Pierre: You’re welcome. Thank you. Bye.

Simple Plan spark up more rumors about possible 5 Seconds Of Summer featuring

Ever since August 2014, rumors about a possible music collaboration between Simple Plan and 5 Seconds of Summer kept popping up every other month, more and more confirming that the Canadians and Australians were up to something together. However it wasn’t until February 2015 that we knew for a fact that Chuck and Pierre spent a few days writing with Callum and Michael from 5SOS.

Now, it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new about this collaboration – that is until now. In one of their most recent replies from Simple Plan’s official Twitter, the band commented on a fan’s tweet regarding a possible featuring of 5SOS on one of the tracks on Simple Plan’s upcoming album, saying “you never know”.

While uptil now it was only certain that there are some songs written by the bands together (with no indication to which band would end up using these songs), this is the first time Simple Plan commented on an information regarding specifically a featuring of 5 Seconds of Summer on one of their tracks. But keep in mind there has not been any official confirmation of such featuring.

What would you say if one (or more) of the 5SOS guys were featured on one of the new SP tracks? Which one would be the best choice in your opinion?

CONFIRMED: Simple Plan writing songs with 5 Seconds Of Summer!

We first heard about a possible upcoming collaboration between Simple Plan and the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer in August 2014 shortly after 5 Seconds of Summer revealed they listen to Simple Plan during pre-show rituals. Since then the members of both bands got in touch and have already met several times and Simple Plan have been toying with the idea of a possible collaboration between them.

However only yesterday’s events made it clear that there is definitely something in works. Michael Clifford (guitar and back vocals for 5SOS) and Calum Hood (bass guitar and back vocals for 5SOS) officially visited Pierre and Chuck in Chuck’s home studio where they were co-writing some songs for 2 days. Whether the guys were only song-writing together or if we can expect some 5SOS vocal parts on some upcoming songs is yet unclear.

And to top it off, Michael also posted two videos of the guys of 5SOS and SP singing Simple Plan’s “Perfect” together. Check them out here and here.

Simple Plan will be entering the studio in less than 2 weeks, on March 1st 2015.

Simple Plan co-writing with Marianas Trench’s Josh Ramsay!

Simple Plan’s upcoming fifth studio album is indeed shaping up to be one hell-of-a record! The ranks of currently known collaborations on this album (whether lyrical or other) that include for example the guys from 3OH!3, Mark Hoppus from Blink 182 or Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low, have just been by Josh Ramsay from Marianas Trench. Chuck and Pierre confirmed so on their Twitter posts last night as they started working with Josh on new songs for their album in the Umbrella Factory studio in Vancouver. In the gallery, you can check out the picture of Chuck, Pierre and Josh that the boys took together in the studio yesterday [on left].

Josh Ramsay, besides being the lead singer of the Canadian band Marianas Trench, is also a well-established song-writer, who’s been nominated for the Grammy awards in 2013 for co-writing Carly Rae-Jepsen’s song “Call Me Maybe”. Simple Plan became friends with the members of Marianas Trench first on their short tour in the US, and later asked Marianas Trench to open for them on Simple Plan’s Canadian tour along with All Time Low and These Kids Wear Crowns in 2012.

How are you enjoying the announcements of the collaborations on the next Simple Plan album so far? Who else would you add to the mix?

5 Seconds Of Summer might work with Simple Plan in the future

In the latest interview for Alter The Press, Ashton Irwin from the Australian band 5 Seconds Of Summer discussed the band’s past collaborations with other artists such as Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low or Joel and Benji Madden and also their plans on future possible help from some artists with 5SOS’s next album. Interestingly enough, Ashton mentioned in a part of the interview that Simple Plan is one of the bands they’d like to work with.

Check out the excerpt of the interview mentioning Simple Plan below:

ATP: Have you already thought about who you would like to write with on your next album?

Ashton Irwin (5SOS): “I’m not sure. We’d like to write a lot of it ourselves this time but work with the same people and maybe one or two new people. We heard from Simple Plan the other day actually when we were in Canada. We would like to work with bands like that who are really cool.”
