Chuck describes new Simple Plan album’s sound in a new interview

Later today, Simple Plan will finally be back on stage for the first time in 2015, playing at the anniversary of the city of Moncton and taking part in their first stop of the Coca Cola Trophy tour for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Simple Plan’s drummer Chuck Comeau (who got himself a brand new “Hoppus” haircut a few days ago – see the picture on the left) recently gave an interview to Acadie Nouvelle about this upcoming show and the album that the band has been working on in the studio for the past few months.

In this interview [which you can read in its entirety in French here], Chuck first talks about how the band managed to stay together for so long without any changes in the line-up. Regarding the new album, which is still untitled, as Simple Plan like to come up with album titles at the very last minute, is progressing very well. Read the English translation of an excerpt from this article, which will give you some hints on what this album may sound like:

“For every album we try to renew ourselves, to find new sounds and new ideas. It’s more a matter of finding a sound that is still exciting, true to what we are and what our fans want to hear from us. At the same time, we want to produce something that will motivate us and make us want to tour again with the songs for the next two years. It is less easy, but it’s a challenge we love,” said the drummer, who also said that the new drive will be new influences.

The new music will be both melodic, energetic and have a festive look with some small retro winks, says the musician. The songs are inspired by their lives and are meant to be positive.

“We want to encourage people not to give up when difficulties come their way.”

Simple Plan to perform at Moncton’s 125th anniversary

Simple Plan will be heading to the stage even sooner than we initially thought! It has just been confirmed that the band will perform at the celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the city of Moncton, which is located in New Brunswick, Canada. Simple Plan will perform there only in three weeks – on April 24th – along with Andee Leclerc. It is yet unclear whether the band plans to perform any new material from their upcoming fifth album.
