Two more opening acts for Simple Plan’s tour in Japan revealed

At this time, the members of Simple Plan are slowly saying goodbyes to their families and already heading to the airport to catch their planes to Japan, where they will spend the upcoming week, appearing in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.

For a number of weeks, the Japanese fans have been aware that the Canadian duo USS will be accompanying Simple Plan on the whole tour in Japan and it was also announced that besides them, the shows in Nagoya (October 16th) and Tokyo (October 18th) will also welcome a second opening act – a local band called Dizzy Sunfist.

But they won’t be the only ones! Creativeman Productions, who is the promoting agency of the Japanese tour has now revealed two more opening bands, who will become the second opening act next to USS on the remaining two Japanese dates. At the show in Tokyo on October 17th, fans can now expect the Japanese band Secret 7 Line and Osaka on October 20th will welcome Blue Encount.

Full bands & crew picture from Simple Plan’s Canadian No Pads tour

It has already become a tradition that after every major tour, Simple Plan take a picture with all their opening bands and their crew to create an everlasting memory of the good times they’ve had on the tour. And of course, this year’s Canadian tour has been no exception.

Since Quebec City was The Bottom Line’s final show on the tour, Simple Plan decided to take the picture there and not on their actual final stop of the tour in Ottawa, so below you can now check out the pic from the beautiful Le Capitole venue featuring Simple Plan, The Bottom Line, Courage My Love, Selfish Things and also all their crew. Here it is:

The Bottom Line to join Simple Plan on tour in the U.S. and Canada!

Even if you haven’t been to any of the European shows in the past year and half, if you’ve been following the news about Simple Plan, I’m pretty sure you’ve already heard of The Bottom Line. The four-piece British band from around London first opened for Simple Plan last year in Europe and after the first European TOFTT leg, they were the only opening band to be asked to join SP on the second leg as well, as the band members have developed close friendships and figured they just work very well on tour together [read SP.cz’s interview with TBL’s lead singer here]. It didn’t take long and on the next European tour, which took place this summer, Simple Plan once again had The Bottom Line open for them on selected dates and their lead singer Callum Amies even got the job as Simple Plan’s guitar technician for the course of the whole European tour.

So at this point, it wouldn’t really be a Simple Plan tour without The Bottom Line. And I assume that’s exactly what Simple Plan thought as well, cause to help their friends out and to expose them to new – North American – audiences, they decided to give them another go and have them open for them once again – this time on the NPNHJB tour in the U.S. and also Canada!

Due to their show in Prague, where they are opening for The Offspring, The Bottom Line will not be present at the first 5 shows of the U.S. tour and will officially join the Simple Plan tour in Houston, TX. In the U.S., The Bottom Line will be joining two other opening acts for Simple Plan: Set It Off and Patent Pending. In Canada, they will be another opening act alongside Courage My Love and Selfish Things.

Set It Off: “Simple Plan were a pivotal band for us joining the genre!”

For almost a month now, Simple Plan have been on their No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour in the United States accompanied by two opening acts: Seaway from Canada and Set It Off from the U.S. Dan Clermont, the guitarist for Set It Off recently spoke to Troy L. Smith of Cleveland.com, and in the interview he mentioned how excited the band was to get the chance to tour with Simple Plan.

Check out his direct quote below:

“Simple Plan were a pivotal band for us joining the genre. Our 14 year-old selves are freaking out while sharing the stage with [them]. It’s like a dream come true for us.”

Set It Off will be opening for Simple Plan until the end of the No Pads tour in mid-April and will later rejoin them on the second leg of the tour in the U.S. in August [tickets on sale now – see all the tourdates here].

Patent Pending to open for Simple Plan this week in New York City

The No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour officially kicks off a week before Simple Plan’s first album’s 15th anniversary with an added show in New York City, which will take place at the Playstation Theatre on Times Square tomorrow, March 10th.

And besides Set It Off, who are accompanying Simple Plan on the whole U.S. leg of the NPNHJB tour, Simple Plan will be joined for this night only also by the New York-based pop-punk band Patent Pending.

Now, you may say – I think I’ve heard that name in Simple Plan news before! And you are right! Patent Pending filmed a video back in 2011, in which they created a song dedicated to Simple Plan, asking them to take them on tour (“or for even a show or two”). And lo and behold, 6 years later Patent Pending’s dream is finally coming true!
