A sixteen-year-old singer Christina Parie, who was one of the top finalists in the Australian version of the X Factor, met one of her favourite bands of all time today – Simple Plan. The band chose her to be the band’s Australian “Natasha Bedingfield” – a female singer who will be accompanying the band during Jet Lag live on stage during their Australian tour – after seeing her cover of Jet Lag on YouTube.
Sebastien already posted the first picture of him with Christina Parie, taken in the backstage of their first stop – in Sydney:
During their Australian tour, on June 5th (while having two days off in between concerts) Simple Plan will once again stop in Sydney, to take part in Take 40’s Live Lounge, which is a one-hour performance, during which fans have a unique opportunity to experience a very intimate concert of their favourite band. The tickets are already on sale.
After three whole years Simple Plan finally returned to Australia. And just a few minutes after they landed they were warmly welcomed by a few old-school fans. The band’s first stop in Australia was at a local TV show called AFL Footy show, where the guys played their first single Jet Lag – although this time accompanied not by Marie-Mai, but by an Australian singer Vanessa Amorosi. Make sure to check out the video of their performance below:
Also, more pictures from the Footy show can already be found in the gallery.
The same evening, as a result of an online invitation by no-one other than Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low, Chuck dropped by to a local club in Sydney to say hello and celebrate this special occasion of meeting up with not only the boys from All Time Low, but also from Yellowcard, Hellogoodbye and Story Of The Year:
Today Simple Plan finally started off their real Australian tour – at first the only concerts that were booked in Australia were +18 (due to promoter’s/venue’s regulations) – but anyway, thanks to the huge demand from the Australian fans, the band decided to add one more show – in Melbourne – to make sure the underage kids can enjoy a Simple Plan show as well. The tour started today in Brisbane – and judging by the first fans’ reactions, they all had a blast :) The first photos from the show (thanks to SPB) are also already in the gallery.
If you’re from Australia and can’t make it to this year’s Simple Plan tour, don’t worry – the band is already making plans to tour the country again in 2012!
Apart from their new show in China, Simple Plan have also recently announced first three shows from their upcoming Australian tour, where cities like Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne have been confirmed. Despite the overall excitement of Simple Plan coming back down under, many fans were clearly very disappointed after finding out most of the shows are +18. What you need to know is: decisions like this are usually made not by the band or the management but by the local venue. Chuck from Simple Plan said himself: “We had no idea and want them to be all ages. We are trying our best to fix this.”
