Jeff reveals his new sleeve tattoo design

For a long time now, Jeff has wanted to connect the two tattoos he has on his left arm (shoulder and forearm) into one large sleeve tatoo. A couple months ago, Jeff went for one of his first tattoo consultations regarding his new sleeve and received the first sketches from his tattoo artist – Pierre Chapelan from the TattooMania studio but yesterday he finally decided to reveal the design to his fans via Instagram.

Chuck and Jeff personally tattoo a fan in Arizona

It’s not at all uncommon to see the members of Simple Plan write down lyrics, signatures or images for fans, who later want to have them tattooed on their bodies [we have over 300 SP fan tattoos to prove that]. What is uncommon however, is to have the members of Simple Plan actually tattoo these things on their own fans bodies… and that’s exactly what happened yesterday.

While at the Oro Valley Music Festival in Arizona, a local tattoo artist, Rachael, who also happens to be a Simple Plan fan, asked Jeff and Chuck whether they’d be willing to tattoo her personally with their own hands. The boys were very excited to fulfill her wish and after Rachael arranged everything and last night in Simple Plan’s tourbus Jeff and Chuck had their first ever experience of putting an ink on another person.

Jeff received first sketches of his new tattoo

After many years, Jeff has finally decided to connect his two tattoos on his right arm – the one on his shoulder and the one on his forearm – into a full-length sleeve. Today, Jeff revealed on his Twitter that he was to see his tattoo artist, Pierre Chapelan, at TattooMania studios to get the first sketches of his new sleeve.

On July 9th, Simple Plan played a free acoustic set for 99.9 The Point in Fort Collins, Colorado and one of the organisers of the event, 99.9 The Point’s host Jared Goldberg filmed a vlog throughout the whole day, documenting Simple Plan’s visit. In this video, the band members got asked what tattoos each of them has on their body and for the first time David showed his previously talked about inner-lip tattoo, which reads “GRRR” [see in in the video at mark 4:49].

Pierre reveals his worst tattoo experience

The latest issue of Alternative Press magazine featured a page dedicated to musicians’ tattoo experience – both the good and the bad kind. And our own Pierre Bouvier was featured there with his story about his worst tattoo experience regarding his sleeve tattoo, which you can read about below or on the scan from AP in the gallery (thanks to PB.net for the picture):

“When I started working on my first sleeve, we were recording our third album. I really wanted it to be done in time for shoots that were just around the corner, so I flew my tattoo artist, Aaron Della Vedova, to Montreal to complete the piece. The first day he arrived, I got tattooed for nine hours straight, followed by a five-hour session the next morning. I was hopped up on painkillers and alcohol, so the tattooing wasn’t all that bad, but the next day my arm was swollen like a big sausage roll. It came down after a week, only to reveal that I was having a bad reaction to the red ink. After a month and a half, my body accepted the ink. It turned out looking great, but for a while there I was thinking I was scared for life. Since that day, I limit myself to five-hour sessions and try to keep the red to a minimum.” – Pierre Bouvier (Simple Plan)
