Simple Plan surprise crowd with ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo’ in Newfoundland!

When in Newfoundland on Friday, where they performed their last show before returning home for a couple weeks, Simple Plan pulled out the big guns and decided to surprise their local fans with a track that Canada has not heard in a while!

Arguably one of their most popular songs – despite the fact that not many people are aware it was them who sings the theme song for one of this beloved cartoon – ‘What’s New Scooby Doo?’ was played live at the George Street Canada Day celebrations on Friday. And people were stoked!

Check out a short video of SP performing ‘What’s New Scooby Doo’ on June 30th in Newfoundland below:

Simple Plan perform What’s New Scooby-Doo and more at first 3 shows at Disney World

There were some other funny characters to be found at the World Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida yesterday besides Mickey Mouse and his friends. Simple Plan started their two-day residence there yesterday with first three shows as a part of the Garden Rocks festival, which attracted hundreds of people.

During their three 30-minute sets, which took place at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm, Simple Plan introduced three different setlists, two of which you now have the chance to see for yourself on the following two videos, which capture the first and the third set of the day. Interestingly – the band started all these sets with their old intro “siren” music, which you may remember from MTV: Hard Rock Live (coincidentally, also filmed in Orlando, Florida).

Pierre even reminisced about the time his band played Disney World for the first time – in 2002 – which is where he first met his now-wife Lachelle (see the second video at mark 10:45 for the full story), who was there along with their two children. Besides Lachelle and Pierre’s children, the rest of the guys also took their wives and kids to see Disney World and for the kids to see their Dads play in the process as well. Check out the first and third full set Simple Plan played including their setlist below:

5:30pm setlist:

1. Shut Up!
2. I’d Do Anything
3. Jet Lag
4. Welcome To My Life
5. I’m Just A Kid
6. Perfect

8:00pm setlist:

1. Shut Up!
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. Addicted
4. Boom!
5. I’m Just A Kid
6. Perfect

And even though we do not currently have the second show in its entirety, we know that Simple Plan incorporated ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo’ into this particular setlist. Check out a video of them playing this old-school track below:

Simple Plan will be performing three sets at Walt Disney World again today, so until then, check out the atmosphere at the first day at Disney on the fantastic pictures in the gallery:

Simple Plan kick off USA tour with ‘Perfectly Perfect’ and ‘What’s New Scooby Doo?’ on the setlist!

After years and years, Simple Plan finally returned to the USA, where they are about to play 9 concerts in a number of diferent states, both on the west and the east cost. Before their first show of the tour last night, Chuck, Pierre and Jeff filmed a little video talking about their current tour and inviting the U.S. fans to come see them play live:

The very first show of the U.S. tour took place last night in Santa Ana, CA [where Simple Plan played for the first time] at The Observatory and it was completely sold-out. This was a very special show not just because it was the first official show of this part of the tour, but also because since it was in California, both Pierre’s and Chuck’s families (the only two band members who reside in California, unlike the rest who live in Canada) were there to cheer their boys on. That means that Pierre’s girls Lennon and Soren were there along with Chuck’s son London, who’s Santa Ana show was in fact his very first Simple Plan show.

And the attendees of this concert were indeed in for a very big treat! As expected, Simple Plan changed up their setlist a bit, to make i more U.S.-friendly by adding a number of hits that the band has been known for in the U.S. for a while. But they didn’t stick to only the classics like Addicted, Untitled (which they already played in Kansas) or I’d Do Anything, but they finally decided to bring back one of their most known tunes – ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ which serves as the theme song to the eponymous cartoon TV show.

Along with this surprising addition, Simple Plan also performed their new single ‘Perfectly Perfect’ live for the first time – with the whole crowd singing the words right back at them. As you can see from the full setlist below (thanks a lot to Misty Lake for sending it in!), the fans in Santa Ana got to see one of Simple Plan’s longest sets of this year:

1. Opinion Overload
2. Jet Lag
3. Jump (‚I Gotta Feeling‘ snippet)
4. I’d Do Anything
5. Boom
6. Welcome to My Life
7. Addicted
8. Your Love Is A Lie
9. Singing In The Rain
10. Party medley – Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars cover) & Can’t Feel My Face (The Weeknd cover)
11. What’s New Scooby-Doo?
12. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
13. Perfectly Perfect
14. Farewell
15. Summer Paradise
16. Crazy
17. I’m Just A Kid

Encore:
18. Shut Up!
19. Perfect World
20. Untitled
21. Perfect

But I’m sure it’s the following videos you’re most anxious to see: so here’s a short video of Simple Plan performing ‘Perfectly Perfect’ live for the very first time:

Chady is also back on the tour with Simple Plan after a litle time off, so the boys immediately got him to shoot some cool behind the scenes photos of them. Along with that you can also check out some first pictures from the Santa Ana show in the gallery:

RECAP: Simple Plan webchat on FUSE

During their promo day in New York City yesterday, the members of Simple Plan also visited the FUSE station studios in the late afternoon, where they atended a live webchat, which the fans were able to stream on FUSE’s Facebook page.

In this webchat, Simple Plan discussed a number of topics, but here’s a recap of the most interesting stuff the band has mentioned:

About ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo’: “We’ve been talking about this – we wanna start playing it live.” – Pierre
About next single: “There might be [one], but we can’t tell you…” – Pierre
About working on next record: “I’m actually recording some tidbits on my phone that I think might sound good on the next record.” – Pierre

Warner to release a budget-priced “Scooby-Doo and Friends” DVD

If you’re a collector of all things Simple Plan then you might be interested in the upcoming Warner Home Video release! The distributor has recently announced that on April 1st they will be debuting their “______ and Friends” line-up of budget-priced DVD releases – for $9.97 – featuring 8 titles including the “Scooby-Doo And Friends” DVD (others in the line feature the characters of Superman, Batman, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Tweety Pie and Tom and Jerry). While the contents of the DVDs have been available on other versions in the past, the collectors might still be interested as the budget DVD line may offer new packaging [see the package art here].
