One year since the release of ‘Taking One For The Team’

Can you believe it? Today marks exactly one year since the day when we all first got to the hear the ‘Taking One For The Team’ album in its entirety, as Simple Plan dropped the record on February 19th 2016.

This album, which is Simple Plan’s 5th studio record, has brought us singles such as I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed, Singing In The Rain and Perfectly Perfect. Besides the official singles, the band also released a number of promo singles, for which they also filmed music videos – such as Boom and Opinion Overload.

Just like on Get Your Heart On!, Simple Plan also offered their fans some interesting collaborations on this record – such as Nelly (I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed), Jordan Pundik (Farewell), Juliet Simms (I Dream About You) and R. City (Singing In The Rain).

After having been listening to TOFTT for a year now, have your thoughts on the songs changed in any way? What do you think of this album as a whole and which songs are your favorite?

Simple Plan to travel to China next month to perform at early screenings of “Snowtime!”

It seems that Simple Plan will be back on stage even sooner than we initially expected! It has just been announced, through a post on Journal de Montreal, that Simple Plan will be heading to China in the beginning of March to perform in Beijing and Shenzhen at two early screenings of the Canadian animated film ‘Snowtime!’ (the original French title is ‘La Guerre Des Tuques 3D’), for which they recorded an English version of the track ‘The Heroes’ back in 2015. The band is expected to perform the song ‘The Heroes’ live at the screenings of the film.

The film’s producer, Marie-Claude Beauchamp, commented on the band’s willingness to promote the movie: “It’s great that the guys at Simple Plan agreed to accompany us on the promotion tour in China.”

The official premiere of ‘Snowtime!’ in China is set for April 1st and according to earlier first screenings back in January, the Chinese audiences seem to be very excited about the movie. The animated film is a remake of a 1984 film of the same name and even though it was only released in November 2015, it has still managed to become Canada’s highest grossing film of 2015 with 3.3 million dollars in earnings.

Remind yourselves of the song below (Chuck wasn’t present during the recording of ‘The Heroes’ as his son London was being born at the same time as the song was being recorded in the studio):

David breaks silence about his absence on the last SP tour

You may recall the beginning of the South American Simple Plan tour last December, when fans were very surprise to find out that David would not be joining the rest of the band on the tour due to personal reasons.

After months of being silent on this matter, with the next Simple Plan tour just weeks away, David finally spoke about his absence and also his return on tour in a new post on Instagram.

Check it out below:

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that I’ve been doing fine and I’m excited to be back on stage with the guys on the upcoming tour to play for y’all. Last year was quite an eventful and busy year and so I needed some time off living in my hometown recharging my batteries.

Thank you for understanding, I appreciate your support as well as the support of the band. See you very soon at the shows!

Peace love and light 🙏❤️✨

David discusses his vegan lifestyle at SPCA Montreal

A couple weeks ago, David Desrosiers paid a visit to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Montreal, Canada, where he got to interact with the local animals and was also interviewed by Marie-Noël Gingras. Yesterday, she finally posted this interview on her blog, and in it you will find some more information about David’s veganism, that he chose as a way of life two years ago.

Along with the interview, which you will find below, you can also check out some more pictures of David at the SPCA Montreal, which show us that David apparently cut his hair for the winter quite a bit:

How did your transition towards a cruelty-free lifestyle occur?

“Through a past relationship, I had already been exposed to a vegan lifestyle. But it was after watching the documentary Earthlings that overnight I entirely stopped my consumption of animal products. Once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it.”

Who were your sources of inspiration?

“In my transition towards this lifestyle, I was greatly inspired by a long-time friend, who is vegan (Instagram @veganforearth), and by the Australian activist James Aspey.”

How did your friends and family react?

“Really well! I even have a positive influence on my family’s eating and purchasing habits.”

Is it easy to maintain your vegan lifestyle while on tour?

“I travel very often due to my career. Contrary to what some may think it’s not difficult to eat vegan outside the house. Often, restaurant chefs enjoy the challenge of making a creative plant-based dish when the option is not already available on the menu. In addition, Indian and Japanese cuisines often offer veggie dishes. One of my travel tricks is to bring snacks, such as VEGA bars, to the airport, in case the options are limited.”

What are your favorite Montreal restaurants?

“Aux Vivres, mainly for the BLT sandwich with coconut bacon. I also love Lola Rosa and Sushi Momo, which offers all-vegan sushi.”

What would you recommend to someone who wishes to adopt a cruelty-free vegan lifestyle?

“Do it in stages, by taking small steps… and don’t necessarily copy me, by making this change overnight! Learn about the vegan diet in order to eat in a balanced way. Watch documentaries on the topic and get inspired by people who convey a positive message, such as James Aspey.”
