Simple Plan set to return to the U.S. and Canada in the fall

It has been a very long time since Simple Plan have done a proper tour across the United States – if memory serves right and we don’t count Warped Tour dates, the last time Simple Plan toured the U.S. was in November 2011 with Forever The Sickest Kids, The Cab and Marianas Trench (and that wasn’t even a long tour). The past two Simple Plan records haven’t been doing very well in the U.S., which is also why the band decided to focus more on the rest of the world [returning to the U.S. only once in a while for Warped Tour or acoustic performances].

But if the past years have proved something it’s that Simple Plan still have a fanbase in the U.S. that hasn’t completely forgotten them and Simple Plan know that too. In fact, Simple Plan are aiming to release their new single “Singing In The Rain” in the U.S., which will be one of the first of their singles in years that will be aimed also at their radios/TV stations. Besides that, the band is also currently planning to get back on the road in the United States during the Taking One For The Team tour cycle – according to Chuck’s latest reply to a fan’s tweet, a U.S. Simple Plan tour should happen this fall. No further information has been revealed yet.

Update: Jeff confirmed that Simple Plan should also be heading to Canada in the fall. That means thi season seems to be reserved for a tour across the North America: both the U.S. and Canada.

As of right now, this gives us a little better understanding of Simple Plan’s plans for 2016 – they start off their TOFTT tour in Europe next week, after which they’ll head over to Japan for PunkSpring and then return home for a while. After that the band is set to head back to Europe, for what seems like either the second leg of their European tour or just spring/summer festivals. Their summer plans have not been revealed yet, but from today’s U.S./Canadian tour confirmation we may expect them head over there after summer’s over.

Mark Staubach strikes again: Singing In The Rain music video director revealed

After the past few music videos, pretty much all directed by the same person, it won’t come as a surprise when I tell you that Mark Staubach is once again in charge of the new music video for “Singing In The Rain” that Simple Plan filmed yesterday. It’s been confirmed by a picture posted on Instagram yesterday, where Mark can be seen looking at the playback with Pierre, Seb and SP’s manager Eric.

Mark Staubach, directed the most Simple Plan music videos out of any other directors, including all versions of “Summer Paradise”, “Astronaut”, “Can’t Keep My Hands Off You” or most recently “I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed” and “Opinion Overload” [read the full SimplePlan.cz interview with Mark from last fall here].

The filming of “Singing In The Rain” took place at least at two location in Toronto, Canada – and both of them included a performance by Simple Plan. The first location was the Danforth Music Hall, which is a popular concert venue in Toronto with a capacity of a little over 1000 (standing). The second location was the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 101, which is a veteran organisation. Check out the photos of the venues below to give yourself a first look at what the location of the shoot looked like:

Patrick explains Man Of The Hour’s title in new interview for the 1st time

This August, Patrick’s and Sebastien’s radio show Man Of The Hour (that you can listen to on Idobi radio every Wednesday with a re-run on Sunday and subsequently on podcasts on iTunes) will be celebating incredible 10 years on air. During these 10 years, the two friends, out of which one is a guitar player for Simple Plan and the other a TV show host in Montreal, managed to bring us 19 seasons (10 episodes in each) of music, rants and interviews.

Manifesto Of Sound recently interviewed Patrick and Sebastien about their popular radio show and in this very good interview (which you can read here), Patrick for the first time explained, where exactly the name ‘Man Of The Hour’ came from. Uptil now, we only knew that before the radio show, Patrick, Seb and Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup started MOTH as a side project/band, which never made any music, however various merchandise has been produced.

Check out the quote from Pat explaining the meaning behind the title:

What made you decide to call the podcast “Man of the Hour”?

Patrick: “We were on tour with Bowling for Soup in Europe and for some unexplainable reason, I started using the line “there he is, man of the hour” as soon as anyone would walk in the room. It was funny, cause it started to pick up and everyone would say it when someone would walk in the room. This was just about the time that we ended up starting this radio show so it seemed like the perfect name for the show!”

First photos from behind the scenes of “Singing In The Rain” shoot

Today, Simple Plan embarked on another videoshoot set – once again surrounded by their fans, the boys are currently in Toronto, Canada, filming the music video for “Singing In The Rain”, which is supposed to be the band’s next single. The music video should carry a very retro/60s theme, and we can already see from the first photos from the shoot.
