Simple Plan to release ANOTHER version of TOFTT vinyl: limited edition in white!

Even though Simple Plan have not officially confirmed it anywhere, we’ve already known for a couple months now, that the band is planning to release their most recent album – Taking One For The Team (2016) on vinyl on September 30th. Pre-orders for the regular black vinyl edition of this vinyl have started a couple weeks ago, so some of you may have already ordered yours. Those of you who waited though, now have a chance till Saturday to win a copy of the black TOFTT vinyl through the new SimplePlan.cz contest – click here to find out how you can win!

But here’s a kicker! Even though the band has not mentioned the sale of the regular black version of the vinyl yet, Simple Plan just made a suprising announcement on their Twitter account that they will soon be releasing their ‘Taking One For The Team’ vinyl in a limited edition on a white vinyl! This is surely an amazing news for all the collectors out there. Not only you will be able to get your hands on the black vinyl, but you may even score the white one!

This will be Simple Plan’s third differently colored vinyl (than the standart black) in their discography. Firstly, the band released their single ‘Crazy’ on a green vinyl and after that the self-titled album was printed on an orange vinyl. The remaining Simple Plan vinyls you can find (of a few other singles) are printed on a regular balck vinyl.

There is no words as of right now how many copies of each of the versions have been printed, so grab yours while you can! Keep checking back for more info about the white limited edition’s pre-order.

Simple Plan confirm ‘Perfectly Perfect’ as 3rd TOFTT single in a new interview

At first, SimplePlan.cz brought you the news that ‘Perfectly Perfect’ may be Simple Plan’s new single, when the Thai radio station Eazy FM 105.5 started putting the song in their rotation two weeks ago. Just moments after that, that news became all the more believable when Warner Music Philippines released a lyric video for the song, making the fans very anxious that it may truly be the band’s new single.

However it wasn’t until now, that the members of Simple Plan finally opened up about ‘Perfectly Perfect’ being their 3rd single from Taking One For The Team (after ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’ and ‘Singing In The Rain’). When in Thailand, Chuck, Seb and Jeff did an interview with the radio MET 107, in which one of the questions was regarding their new single, that this radio station has also already picked up.

Check out the transcript of this part of the interview below:

Interviewer: “We play your single a lot. And right now, your latest single, ‘Perfectly Perfect’ is now on air as well. Can you say something about your latest single?”

Chuck: “Yeah, you know what? It just came out. And I think it’s actually the first place in the world – in Asia – where it’s an “official” single. It’s a song about.. you know, like when lots of times when you’re dating someone, you’ll hear them being super insecure about their bodies or who they are and everything. And it’s kind of a song that says sometimes what you think is imperfect on you or what you’re insecure about is actually this thing about the person that’s actually a super cool thing. So I think that’s kind of what the song’s about. It’s trying to tell people out there that it’s cool to embrace who you are and be proud of who you are. Because lots of times, the people that are really close to you, that’s what they love the most about you. It’s a cute kind of romantic song.

Jeff: “I thought the song was about me..? I’m really disappointed right now.”

Check out the full new interview with Chuck, Jeff and Sebastien, where at mark 6:41, the members of Simple Plan discuss ‘Perfectly Perfect’:

As of right now, it is unknown when the band is planning to shoot and release a music video for this song. But if you were the one in charge of the concept, what would the video be about?

Fans will be able to get their hands on the band’s second full-length album release on vinyl (after the self-titled album) starting September 30thVinyl Collective confirmed this news at the end of August.

The vinyl is already available for pre-order on the Canadian and U.S. versions of Srcvinyl for 25.99 CAD / 20.99 USD. The list of songs featured on the vinyl should not differ from the one on the regular physical or digital copies of the album.

As SimplePlan.cz has also previously reported, the album is also available for pre-order on various European online music stores already. We also got a word from Warner Music Czech Republic, who confirmed the release of this vinyl in Europe as well.

Simple Plan discuss vinyl release, 2017 tour plans, acoustic album and DVD in a new interview

Before the show in Acton Vale, QC, our friends over at Tempo-Mag.com had the chance to interview Sebastien and Jeff from Simple Plan and managed to get some pretty interesting info from the twosome. While you can check out the English version of the full interview here, let’s sum up the most important things we’ve learned from it.

Vinyl release

As SimplePlan.cz has reported before, the Taking One For The Team record should be released on a vinyl on September 2nd, according to various European online music retailers. The band has finally confirmed the release of a vinyl in this interview, when Sebastien stated: “The vinyl will really come out in some places. Vinyls are so cool! The vinyls from the factory are on back order. I think that it will take only a few months, or maybe just a few weeks.” It is unknown whether Sebastien is already taking in account the already known post-poning of the vinyl (original release date was August 5th), or if there’s been another post-poning since then. However, no matter when the vinyls arrive, it is now sure that Simple Plan do plan on releasing them in the near future.

2017 tour plans

The boys also once again discussed their touring plans for 2017. As Jeff had previously mentioned, the band plans on going back to works on their next album right after they’re done with touring for Taking One For The Team (around May 2017). But where is that tour going to bring them till then? It looks like the boys are also still standing behind their previously plans on hitting Europe and Canada once next year – maybe even for the summer festival season, which means the “May 2017” date as the end of TOFTT tour cycle isn’t set in stone just yet. To directly quote Sebastien again: “Of course, we still want to be on tour this spring. I also think, we are just talking for the sake of it, nothing is confirmed yet, but we are open-minded to do some festivals next summer. Maybe here, maybe in Europe. Something’s sure: we want a new album as quick as we can. That’s true. It will happen but we want to do the things right, that’s really our good best intention.”

Acoustic album / DVD?

And finally, the ever-present questions regarding any accompanying releases from Simple Plan besides their album. Ever since 2003 when the ‘A Big Package For You’ DVD came out, many Simple Plan fans have been adamant about requesting the release of the next Simple Plan DVD in the ABPFY style. Similarly also with the recent growth of the amount of acoustic sets the band has been performing, the fans have also started asking about an acoustic album, that would feature acoustic versions of already released songs. Unfortunately, the answer to both of these projects seems to be a “no” as of right now.

While it isn’t long that some band members have stated in a recent webchat that an acoustic album “may happen”, it’s also fair to note that creating such an album would take the band a very long time, which could be spent much better on producing a brand new album, rather than “recycling” old songs. As Sebastien noted: “We really should not do an acoustic album. It will take too much time,” and as Jeff added: “I don’t think it’s a good idea. I think it will be cool to explore the idea but I don’t think it will be on this album.”

Regarding the DVD, there’s a different issue than “not enough time” – the problem is not enough footage and an out-dated medium. Back in the day, in the 00s era, the Internet was in its very beginnings and therefore wasn’t considered a threat to the movie business at first. However with the expansion of the Internet into YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and other visually based media, Simple Plan now give out so much visual content on daily basis that they simply do not have enough of it left for a full-length behind the scenes DVD. According to the band, it’s possible that they might eventually put all these already released short pieces of footage into one big compilation – as Jeff put it in the interview: “Yes a compilation, it should exist. I don’t even know if we have any new material to present because everything ends up on the Internet. We feel that we are obliged to be present, always. So, we don’t have anything to show more than we already have.”

Release of Taking One For The Team vinyl postponed to September

[note: this image is only a mock-up – actual image of the TOFTT vinyl has not been released yet]

Back in June, SimplePlan.cz was the first to inform that Simple Plan’s latest studio album – ‘Taking One For The Team’ would be released on a vinyl. At that point, various European multimedia retailers put up Taking One For The Team as a vinyl up on their websites, stating the LP would become available on August 5th or 6th. With this date being just a few days away and with no vinyl announcement from the band yet, it was time to check out these retailers again for some updated info.

Turns out that for an unknown reason, the release date of the ‘Taking One For The Team’ vinyl has been postponed until September 2nd – which is being reported both on the Norweigan store and also the Swedish store. The price still remains the same – 179 Swedish crowns or 149 Norwegian crowns, which equals to approximately €15.7 to €19.7 or $17.6 to $22.1.

The band is yet to confirm the release of the vinyl, however Jeff has previously hinted on the release a number of times through his tweets.
