Simple Plan to return to Brazil in May!

Ever since the members of Simple Plan slipped some first (though rather vague) information about their upcoming No Pads tour in South America, the local fans have been on edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the official tour announcement – hopefully in the city near them.

And while no official announcement has been made yet and there are no concrete tourdates to rely on, a Brazilian website Destak published an article yesterday revealing that Simple Plan will be making their return to Brazil this May! According to the website, the tourdates should be announced in the upcoming few days, which makes sense since the tour is already less than two months away.

As far as other South American countries concerns, there have been rumors that Simple Plan might appear at the Vivo Ex El Rock festival in Peru, which is also taking place in May – meaning the whole South American No Pads tour could be taking place in that time frame. The festival will be revealing its lineup shortly.

Simple Plan named 2nd most frequent band in the history of Warped Tour’s lineup!

Last week’s official announcement of the line-up of the very last Warped Tour, a popular alternative music festival tour in the United States, confirmed our earlier post that Simple Plan would be saying their goodbyes to Warped by attending this last tour and playing its every date.

The final edition of Warped Tour is of course bringing some very nostalgic vibes to the whole music scene, which is why Alternative Press recently dug through the archives and made a list of TOP 10 bands who appeared on Warped Tour the most. And lo and behold, Simple Plan actually take second place on this list! Check out what AP had to say about SP’s appearance on Warped Tour:

“Simple Plan, with their 11 appearances, take the coveted No.2 spot in the list of bands who have played Warped Tour the most. The Canadian pop-punk delegation are about to celebrate their 20th year of existence, playing Warped every year between 1999 and 2005 and then again in 2011, 2013 and 2015. Plus, they’re giving the tour a whole-hearted goodbye with a full cross-country run in 2018.”

We would argue that since AP is counting the band’s appearance on Warped Tour Australia (2013) – a sort of “spin-off” tour to the original U.S. Warped Tour, last year’s attendance of Warped Rewind At Sea should definitely count as well – meaning they appeared on Warped Tour – in one form or another – 12 times in total. However, since Less Than Jake, who are occupying the No.1 spot with 12 appearances also took part in Warped Rewind At Sea, Simple Plan still remain in 2nd place.

Check out the full list of TOP Warped Tour attending bands below (AP included the bands’ appearances on the final Warped Tour in 2018 on this list):

1. Less Than Jake (12 tours)
2. Simple Plan (11 tours)
3. Anti-Flag (10 tours)
4. Motion City Soundtrack (9 tours)
5. Motionless In White (9 tours)
6. Silverstein (8 tours)
7. Pennywise (8 tours)
8. Reel Big Fish (8 tours)
9. Every Time I Die (8 tours)
10. Sum 41 (8 tours)

Simple Plan will join the lineup of the final Warped Tour this year!

Last year, Kevin Lyman, the founder of the longest-running U.S. cross-country tour ‘Warped Tour’ announced that the 2018 edition of Warped Tour would be its very last. Since that moment, many alternative music fans have begun speculation about which acts should be a part of this final Warped Tour.

And while the official lineup announcement is coming tomorrow, March 1st, Coalition Music – Simple Plan’s management company has already broke the news that Simple Plan would be playing at the whole run of the 2018 Warped Tour – from June 21st all the way until August 5th. The band will be performing at the Journeys Right Foot Stage.

Over the years, Simple Plan have been one of the most stable acts on Warped Tour, as they performed multiple times – every year from 1999 to 2005, in 2011, in 2013 (in Australia), in 2015 and also in 2017 (only at Warped Rewind At Sea). Given their history and the fact that this band practically began on small Warped stages with 30-minute sets, it seems only natural that they would be one of the acts to close this tour as well.

Reset to reunite with its original members this year!

If you’re a fan of Simple Plan, surely you’re heard of the band Reset before. Reset was founded in 1993 and at some point in time three members of Simple Plan made some of their first music-related memories in this band. Pierre and Chuck were the founding members of Reset and David later replaced Pierre after his departure from the band – not for long, though, just a few months later he left the band also to join the Reset-renegades in the newly started band Simple Plan. After all these years, Reset’s fanbase is still going pretty strong and it is them who can start getting very excited about this year!

Philippe Jolicoeur, Reset’s lead singer, guitarist and only remaining founding member, announced yesterday that there is some very good news coming up for Reset in 2018, while also posting the reunion picture from Amnesia Rockfest 2014 featuring himself, Pierre, David and Chuck. Philippe also confirmed that a reunion with the original members of Reset is tied to this good news.

Many fans are speculating that the original members could repeat their last reunion, which took place in 2014 at the Amnesia Rockfest festival in Quebec. The festival has since renamed Montobello Rockfest and will be taking place from June 14th to June 16th 2018 in Montobello, QC.

Whether the band will perform at Montobello Rockfest and whether David, who’s been absent from Simple Plan’s tours for almost a year now, will be a part of this reunion, is currently unknown. Keep checking back for more info!

Remind yourselves of the music video for Reset’s song ‘My Dream And I’, which is very specific for its use of Pierre Bouvier’s vocals in its recording, but with David Desrosiers playing the role of the waiter in the video. The two have however never been in Reset together at the same time:
