VIDEO: Simple Plan perform new song “Boom” at SPF benefit event

Last evening at the Simple Plan Foundation benefit event, Simple Plan surprised their fans in the audience with an acoustic version of a brand new song called “Boom”, which will presumably be featured on the bands upcoming album. Thanks to Anika and Gillian, here are the first two views at the song. How do you like it? :)

Here’s the first attempt at decoding the song lyrics. If you have any idea what goes into the unknown (“???”) bits and would like to help make the lyrics complete, please comment under the article.

Boom

In a world full of heartache
Seems like everyone’s burning out
You and me, we did it our way
And this love ain’t running out

We got that fire, that glow
Whoa
And I just need you to know

You’re my favorite song
My sing-along
You shine bright like lighters in the dark.

And you’re my clarity
Best part of me
You still make my crazy little heart go
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
You still make my crazy little heart go
Boom

We don’t need to worry about tomorrow
Cause these walls will never fall
I just wanna let the world know
What we’ve got’s unbreakable

We got it under control
Whoa
We’re good, we’re solid, we’re gold

You’re my favorite song
My sing-along
You shine bright like lighters in the dark.

You’re my clarity
Best part of me
You still make my crazy little heart go
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
You still make my crazy little heart go
Boom

Crazy little heart go
Crazy little heart go
Crazy little heart go
And now I never wanna let go
Crazy little heart go
Crazy little heart go
You still make my crazy little heart go
Crazy little heart go
Crazy little heart go
And now I never wanna let go

You’re my favorite song
My sing-along
You shine bright like lighters in the dark.

You’re my clarity
Best part of me
You still make my crazy little heart go
Booom
You’re my favorite song
My sing-along
You shine bright like lighters in the dark.
You’re my clarity
Best part of me
You still make my crazy little heart go
Booom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
Boom
Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo
You still make my crazy little heart go
Boom

My crazy little heart go boom
You still make my crazy little heart go
Boom

Chuck talks music and sports on Dave Morissette En Direct

On Friday night, Chuck Comeau appeared on Dave Morissette’s talk show “Dave Morissette En Direct” on TVA Sports, where he discussed the Simple Plan Foundation, his love for music and sports and later on in the show, Chuck’s friend, a Canadian ice-hockey goaltender José Théodore joined their discussion via a webcam. During the interview, a rare clip of José Théodore’s performance on the cover of “American Jesus” (originally by Bad Religion) during one of Simple Plan’s shows back in the day was shown.

Thanks to Sab, you can read a short recap of what was discussed in this French interview below:

– Chuck discusses the fact that since the start of the Simple Plan Foundation in 2005, they have raised over 1.5 million dollars

– A month or two before today’s benefit event, when Chuck called his Mom, they spend at least 45 minutes speaking about what they have to collect for the auction

– Chuck talked about his love for hockey. He always wanted to be an ice-hockey player, but he is still a big fan. He explains that José Théodore once played on stage with them. They didn’t know if he was going to be good, but they thought that it would just be a good advertising for the band for him to play with them because it was a day before the release of Still Not Getting Any. It was during the lock-out, so no hockey game were played at that moment, and the Journal de Montreal posted an article saying “José Theodore is playing” in big characters and “with Simple Plan” in smaller characters. They played American Jesus. Then they became good friends.

– Chuck compared being in a band to being a hockey player. José said he wanted to be a musician and Chuck told him he wanted to be a hockey player.

– After that they made a bet that José and Chuck have to play hockey together and if José looses he has to wear a jersey of a team he doesn’t like, and if Chuck looses he has to wear a Sum 41 t-shirt, as it’s “a band that we don’t like very very much”

VIDEO: “The Rest Of Us” and “Time To Say Goodbye” live at CN Canadiens Alumni Challenge

As you already know from the recap of Simple Plan’s performance at the CN Canadiens Alumni Challenge in Montreal, Canada, yesterday, the band performed their song “The Rest Of Us” live for the very first time (acoustically). And as promised, Anika sent me her video of this performance and you can now check it out right here:

Besides “The Rest Of Us”, the band also suprised the fans with a live version of “Time To Say Goodbye”, which they haven’t played in years. Once again, thanks to Anika, here’s the performance caught on camera:

VIDEO: Simple Plan rehearse “Time To Say Goodbye” backstage

Sebastien updated his Instagram with a short video from the backstage of today’s CN Canadiens Alumni Challenge, where the members of Simple Plan have gathered and together rehearsed their song “Time To Say Goodbye”, which was featured on their third album and which they have not performed live in about 4 years. Could the band possibly be performing the whole song today at the game or tomorrow at the Simple Plan Foundation event? We shall see!

I just don't want to waste another day.
