Sebastien and Jeff on BT Montreal

This morning, both Sebastien and Jeff from Simple Plan appeared on the Canadian morning show on City TV – Breakfast Television Montreal. Sebastien Lefebvre arrived first and was scheduled for the 7:40am slot, in which he discussed the upcoming charitable acoustic concert in association with Kiehl’s. He also hinted on the show’s setlist – but mostly denied that the band would play any new songs. Read the quotation below:

“There’re songs from the first, second, third and the fourth album and maybe there’ll be a few new songs – I don’t know! […] Although we probably won’t have time to practice anything new but we’re planning on releasing a new album next year.”

Jeff Stinco was up next half an hour later – at 8:20am. The lead guitarist also talked about the Simple Plan Foundation, it’s history and all its charitable efforts.

Now, check out Sebastien’s interview here and the interview with Jeff below:

Chuck Comeau takes part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

After being nominated by Marc-Édouard Vlasic, the defenceman for the San Jose Sharks, yesterday, Chuck Comeau also decided to take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge today.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a currently extremely viral global activity, in which within 24 hours after being challenged, the participant has to record a video of themselves pouring a bucket of water and ice over his head. After that the person nominates other people who have to take part in the challenge within the next 24 hours (and is also expected to donate at least $10) or – if they don’t – donate $100 to the ALS Association, which is trying to help people with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also known as the Lou Gehrig’s Disease). According to the latest news, thanks to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge more than 15 million dollars have been raised worldwide in favor of the ALS Association.

In his video, Chuck nominated his fellow band members: Pierre, Jeff, Sebastien and David, and along with them also Joel and Benji Madden, Avril Lavigne, Chad Kroeger and Michael Bublé. And while we’ll have to wait for their videos, let’s have a look at Chuck’s brave participation in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge:

Cassadee Pope: “I grew up loving Simple Plan!”

In an interview with Murtz Jaffer from a few months ago, American singer Cassadee Pope, revealed her love for various Canadian artists – and among others she also named Simple Plan as a band that she had grown up loving.

Cassadee Pope started a career as a vocalist in a pop punk band Hey Monday, which is currently on hiatus. In 2012 she became the winner of the American version of The Voice and has released one solo album since then. Cassadee Pope still has a very strong connection to her pop punk roots though – not only she’s been in a relationship with All Time Low’s drummer Rian Dawson for many years now, but she also sometimes sings guest vocals live during their song “Remembering Sunday” as well as performs with other bands such as We The Kings, Fall Out Boy or Yellowcard.

Read the quote from the interview here or watch the full interview below (mark 6:46) [big thanks to Lucy for letting me know]:

“You know what? I did’t realize it until recently that a lot of people I look up to: music and, you know actors and actresses are Canadian! I mean Shania [Twain] is like a huge influence for me – Canadian! Jim Carrey’s one of my favorite comedians/actors – he’s Canadian. Simple Plan was a band that I grew up loving, so it’s weird. I guess I’m, supposed to be Canadian, actually!”
