Simple Plan at Hockey Night Canada
Last night Simple Plan played for a couple thousand people in front of the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada at the celebrations of the return of the hockey season. Their situation was a little bit complicated since Sebastien could not make it to the event but luckily Simple Plan were saved by Patrick Bouchard, who stepped in for that night to fill in for Sebastien and play his parts.
Check out the first pictures from Simple Plan’s show last night and also a couple more pics from the backstage and soundcheck before the show:

And to see how the guys did on stage without Sebastien, you can watch the video footage of “Jet Lag” and “Summer Paradise” below:

All Time Low give Simple Plan a shout-out at Montreal show

On January 16th, the Baltimore-based band All Time Low who’s connections to Simple Plan are endless, played a concert in Montreal, Canada. And of course some of the members of Simple Plan could not miss out the chance to see their friends Alex, Zack, Rian and Jack live and went to see them and hung out with them as well. After the show was over, Chuck wrote Jack Barakat a tweet saying:
At the @alltimelow show in Mtl! Love those dudes! @alexalltimelow @jackalltimelow @riandawson Thanks for the nice words about herpes guys!
— Chuck Comeau (@chuckcomeau) January 17, 2013
To a person, who did not attend the show, this message might have sounded a bit weird, but if you check out the following video, you’ll see that All Time Low actually took the time to give a shout-out to Simple Plan in the midst of their concert. This is what the band said:
Jack Barakat: “We have to shout out our friends who are here – Simple Plan! They fucking took us on our first massive Canadian tour and really exposed us to a lot of fans, so thank you!”
Alex Gaskarth: “I actually meant to say the song that we played before we walked up stage – I fucking wrote that song with those dudes! I owe them for that dance party we just had together! And you owe them for all the fucking herpes that you have in Canada… I don’t know if you owe them but they are to blame. They single-handedly gave everyone herpes.”
Interview with Pierre and Chuck about vacations and what’s next for Simple Plan
At the Radio Canada / La Presse ceremony, the Canadian reporter Herby Moreau of Herby.tv interviewed Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan about their reactions on receiving the “Personality of the Year” award, their current vacations and also their plans for future.
Check out this very interesting and moving interview below along with English translation (thanks to Charbel):
Interviewer: “Personality of the year” La Presse, Radio Canada, how do you feel about that?
Chuck: It was unexpected
Pierre: I’m completely blown away, I had no idea, this was unexpected.
Chuck: we didn’t know what to say when our fans from all around the world made this little video of themselves congratulating us.
Pierre: One thing people ask us is if back in the day, we would ever imagine ourselves standing where we stood today, I think it’s one of the things I never thought would happen.
Chuck: Especially when you see other what others accomplished…
Pierre: Of course, there might be a cure for AIDS one day, thanks to some of the people here tonight, it’s really moving.Interviewer: What’s the next step for SP?
Pierre: Vacation! Well deserved I think, we’ve been touring around the world for a year and a half, we’ve been to Asia, Australia …
Chuck: South America, Europe…
Pierre: All of that twice, so now we are resting a bit, we’ve got a few shows this summer, then we start writing for the fifth album, and then the cycle restarts. That’s how music works, it’s a cycle, we write an album, we release it, we promote it for a year and a half, we rest a bit and we take off again.Interviewer: Do you guys find the time to enjoy yourselves during your time off? What do you guys do? For example you currently live in California?
Pierre: Yep, for us when we take some time off, it’s sort of like having vacations, having a few months of vacation is really pleasant.
Interviewer: What are you gonna do?
Pierre: Pfft, nothing. [laughs] I’ll play golf, like on vacations, I wake up in the morning, I got a kid now so I take the time to be a daddy. Then I’ll play golf, I’ll surf…
Chuck: We found a new passion!
Pierre: Yeah, with golf!
Chuck: We’ll try to be good at it this year [laughs]
Interviewer: Chuck, if I gave you the opportunity to play on any golf court anywhere around the world, where would it be?
Chuck: Pebble Beach in California. Apparently it’s one of the coolest in the world.
Pierre: I would love to go to Palm Springs, it’s close to Los Angeles and there’s lots of beautiful courts there. So we gotta enjoy ourselves because when our break is over, it’s back to non stop work.
Chuck: Hey even when we are on vacation we’re still together.
Interviewer: You guys are truly best buds, you don’t let each other go.
Pierre: Pfft, not that much. [laughs] Kidding, we’re good friends. [fist bump]
Chuck: He’s alright.
Interviewer: As a matter fact, Simple Plan is a story about friendship
Pierre: It’s a love story! [puts arm around Chuck’s shoulder]
Chuck: Aww, we started making music ever since we were 13. It’s been 20 years!
Pierre: We’re like brothers! We’re more than friends, we are family in the end, the whole band. Even if we are having a bad day, there are days we don’t wanna see each other, but you know that deep inside there’s love that will never fade away.
Chuck: Even if we are arguing, at one point we simply stop because we know we can’t go any further than that.Interviewer: You guys are reassuring your fans that SP isn’t ready to break up.
Pierre: Exactly.
Chuck: It keeps going.
Pierre: We feel like we are headed towards a new adventure.
Chuck: That’s what’s special about it, after this whole time, things like these aren’t supposed to happen, to receive awards and such, it motivates us to keep on going, I just can’t wait to see how far we are gonna go next year, and the year after that, we wanna see how far we can go.Interviewer: What would you like to say to your fans who are watching this?
Pierre: It’s mostly a big thank you, it’s because of them that we are capable of doing what we’re doing today, the foundation exists because of them, our band, our music as well, it’s all thanks to them.
Chuck: We owe them everything.
Pierre: Simple Plan would never exist without our fans, so thank you, we adore you!
Chuck: Thank you!
