Simple Plan signing session at Salon De La Jeunesse

Yesterday, Simple Plan had their last stop in Canada when they attended the autograph session at the Montreal student fair called Salon De La Jeunesse, were they were greeted by hundreds of excited fans. Check out the gallery for the first pictures from this event (huge thanks goes to Janie and Tempo Mag):

Also, server Webpresse.ca published a video reportage on this fair that includes a few shots of Simple Plan signing to their fans:

Simple Plan to perform old classics of Les Classels

After seeing them imitate The Ramones, Wham!, The Beach Boys, Run DMC and now Les Classels, it seems like dressing up as old classic bands is a Simple Plan thing now. Let me elaborate:

On February 23rd, the guys from Simple Plan attended the taping of a Canadian TV game show called “Fideles au poste”, that airs every Thursday at 8pm on TVA. Hosted by Eric Salvail (who you may remember from hosting a few Simple Plan Foundation events in the past), each episode of this show has 6 people split into 2 teams who compete in singing old classics from the archives of the TVA channel, that go all the way back to 1961.

Simple Plan will appear as special guests on the episode that airs next Thursday, March 8th, along with Gilles Girard – the lead singer of an old Canadian band called “Les Classels” (1964-1971). Together they will perform one song from Les Classels – all dressed up the same way this band used to – with white wigs and everything, and then they will continue with the French version of Jet Lag, where Gilles Girard provides the female vocal parts.

Oh… and if you can’t tell, Simple Plan are the ones on the picture on top. The handsome gentlemen in white below are Les Classels.

A huge thank you goes to Charbel for helping me to put all this info together and for the following teaser of the upcoming episode of “Fideles au poste”:

David plays drums during Marianas Trench’s set in Shawinigan, Canada

As you probably all know by now, David Desrosiers is a huge fan of drums. It might even be his favourite instrument to play! That’s why we’ve already seen him behind the drums for example on many The New Cities’ concerts in Canada (during “Looks Minus Substance”).

This time around, on the last show of Simple Plan’s Canadian tour – in Shawinigan – the boys from Marianas Trench invited David to play drums during their set – particularly during the song “All To Myself”. From what Janie has told us, David learned the song in only 2 hours before performing it live.

That’s pretty remarkable!

Also, thanks to Janie you can now check out pictures from this special occasion in the gallery and also a video below:

All Time Low’s Zack Merrick plays bass on I’d Do Anything in Halifax, Canada

On their recent concert in Halifax, Canada, Zack Merrick, the bassist of All Time Low, joined Simple Plan on stage in the middle of I’d Do Anything, got his hands on David Desrosiers’ bass and played the rest of the song, while David had a chance to freely crowdsurf and sing his heart out.

Mind you, that was not the first time that a member of All Time Low “crashed” a Simple Plan show: the lead singer Alex Gaskarth can be found singing his parts on Freaking Me Out on the current Canadian tour and guitarist Jack Barakat likes to dress in red spandex and show his moves on stage during Simple Plan’s party medley.

On the left side of this post you can check out a picture of David and Zack hugging on stage – this and more pictures from Halifax can be found in the gallery.

And make sure to check out the whole performance of I’d Do Anything that features mr. Merrick in the video below:

VLOG: Simple Plan signing hockey sticks

Sim has recorded and put together a little vlog from the recent three autograph sessions that Simple Plan did at the Pro-Hockey Life stores in Canada, where they signed their brand new Simple Plan hockey sticks for their fans. Check out how it all went:
