After 20 hours of uploading on YouTube, my interview with Chuck, Seb and Jeff (who joined us later in the interview because he was jealous of the guys being interviewed by SimplePlan.cz :)) is finally ready for your viewing pleasure! The interview was recorded (thanks a lot to Viola for the awesome camera work) in the afternoon before the concert. I really really hope you’ll like it. Also, I am currently working on the English transcript of the interview and will add it later.
I don’t know where to start. Friday was the most amazing and the craziest day of my life. Yet everything worked out! The organisers of the show were very fond of the band – apparently we’ve “chosen a really good band – they are all so nice!”. Also, our idea of THANK YOU signs in paper hearts was a huge success – the guys noticed already right before Everytime and stopped the whole show to thank us and take a picture of themselves with the whole crowd behind them filled with hundreds of paper hearts (btw I think the photo is still not online anywhere, but hopefully someone will put it up soon: Pierre, if you’re reading this, would you be so kind?).
My interview with Chuck and Sebastien went also really well in my opinion (I will try to publish it today) – the guys were really looking forward to an interview with SimplePlan.cz and Jeff was so jealous of Chuck and Seb that he joined us later as well :) In the interview we’ve covered everything from Mark Hoppus’ mom to maple syrup. So I think you have a lot to look forward to ;)
The setlist of the show was as follows: Shut Up, Can’t Keep My Hands Off You, Jump, Take My Hand, When I’m Gone, Addicted, You Suck At Love, Thank You, Your Love Is A Lie, Astronaut, Summer Paradise, medley (Fuck You/Dynamite/Raise Your Glass), Jet Lag, This Song Saved My Life, Welcome To My Life, I’d Do Anything, Loser Of The Year, I’m Just A Kid, Everytime, Perfect.
Though the most amazing part of the day was yet to come when during the show Pierre started talking about SimplePlan.cz, thanked me and even started a huge applause for the website – it was incredible and I appreciate it so much. You can check out this moment in the following video (around mark 1:35):
The present from the Czech fans was given to Jeff after the band’s soundcheck and he was absolutely astonished.
“This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. And I’m not even kidding.” – Jeff Stinco
I have already uploaded a few of my personal and my friends’ pictures from the soundcheck/meet&greet with Simple Plan to the gallery, and you can also find there many pictures from the show itself and also from the “hanging-out” session with the guys after the concert:
Pierre’s 100% healthy again and the guys have been back on the old continet for a few days now, where they will be performing on a few festivals and also their own shows. Yesterday, Simple Plan dropped by at a French festival called Rock En Seine, from where you can already check out first photos in the gallery:
Simple Plan were also joined on this show for their single Jet Lag by no-one other than Marie-Mai! It is yet unknown if Marie-Mai is going to join SP on the rest of their European tour, but at least you can check out below what it would look like if she did (although in non-francophonic countries Jet Lag would most probably be performed in its English version):
Simple Plan have just published a new vlog from the last show before Pierre’s voice was gone and the band had to take a break from touring for a bit (though now all healthy on the road in Europe again!) – the vlog takes place in South Korea, where Simple Plan have never been before. Make sure to check it out:
The song This Song Saved My Life, also known as the final song of Simple Plan’s latest album “Get Your Heart On!” is definitely one of the songs that are very meaningful to many Simple Plan fans. That’s because it’s about them – it sums up what they feel like when they listen to a certain song of their favourite band or how the song helps them go through rough times, how it changes their lives.
Apart from Chuck and Pierre (Simple Plan’s main songwriters), also Toby Gad (who previously wrote famous hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” or “If I Were A Boy”) helped to shape this song into what it is today. The most important contribution, though, were the fans: Simple Plan posted a message on Twitter asking their fans to tell them how their music makes them feel. And using their words they came up with This Song Saved My Life. A few of the fans then had a special opportunity to lend their voices to the song itself in the recording studio and the song was born.
Toby Gad Productions has now published an amazing video showing the writing process of This Song Saved My Life:
